About Us

Come and meet the Focus Physiotherapy team based in our Allambie Clinic.

Sally Postma

Sally has been practicing physiotherapy since graduating from the University of Sydney in 1993 (longer than she cares to confess).  She has worked in private practice and private hospitals as well as public health in Australia and the UK.  She has also spent ten years collectively with the Royal Navy and Royal Australian Navy. These Defence appointments provided a unique opportunity to work with the Navy’s elite Clearance Divers, submariners and Special Forces.

Sally and husband Ron established Focus Physiotherapy in 2013.  Their mission is to diagnose and manage effectively within the shortest possible timeframe.

Her clinical interests include sports and spinal care, pilates and women’s health.  She is qualified to assess and manage the female pelvic floor  Sally will routinely use real-time ultrasound when managing spinal or women’s health issues.

To achieve excellent results, she believes it is firstly important to educate patients about their injury and management options. She employs a hands-on approach with very specific graded exercise programs to help patients learn to control their symptoms.  Sally’s ultimate goal is for her patients is to achieve independence with respect to their own injury management.

She communicates regularly with other health care providers such as GPs, specialists and personal trainers to streamline patient care.

In her spare time, Sally loves to play netball and swim or run on our beautiful Northern Beaches. Together Ron and Sally have two energetic boys to keep them on their toes.

Ron Postma

Ron,  co-principal of the Focus Physiotherapy team,  completed a Diploma in Physical Education in 1991 closely followed by a degree in physiotherapy. He has since gained over 20 years of experience in a variety of settings. These include public hospital, workplace rehabilitation, private practice and Defence establishments (British and Australian).

Since 2005,  Ron has been one of a select team of physios servicing the Australian Defence Force at Australia’s largest Naval base in Sydney (Garden Island).  His expertise lies predominantly in the treatment of orthopaedic, musculoskeletal and sports injuries.

Ron is an Accredited Running Coach having completed the Level 2 “Recreational Running” course with Athletics Australia in 2013.  http://athletics.com.au/2irr Having spent muchof his time running he has a diverse repertoire of advice for the endurance athlete.   He will advise you on running shoes, technique, individualised conditioning and training programs. The aim is to minimise your risk of initial or recurrent injuries. He has looked deep into nutrition for endurance athletes, something that can be complex at times. Individuals require a personalised approach to nutrition.

In June 2015 he completed a Bike Setup course. This course was specifically tailored to physiotherapists and included technique training aspects for road and time trial bikes.

On a personal note,  Ron has completed six marathons with a PB of 3:09h and several triathlons.  He has also completed Ironman Australia in  May 2016 (11:24h) and Western Sydney Ironman 70.3 in November 2016 (4:52h) You’ll find him at Curl Curl Parkrun most Saturdays and either on the bike or running anywhere in the Northern Beaches every Sunday.
